Regional and Alumni Newsletter Guidelines
Content
Each of Sigma Tau Delta's six Regions produces two newsletters per academic year, keeping their members up-to-date on local and Society events. These newsletters are posted to the Sigma Tau Delta website for members to view.
- The fall issue includes information on the common reader, convention information, Better World Book Drive, any upcoming regional conferences, and a letter from the Regent.
- The spring issue additionally includes a review of the immediate past convention.
- All issues should contain submissions from chapters on their chapter activities in the areas of service, fundraising, events, publishing, and recruitment. Scholarship, award, internship, and project grant opportunities should also be considered.
- Newsletters may also contain literary commentary and original works.
- Newsletters follow the current Sigma Tau Delta Editorial Style Guide.
Contributors
The newsletters are a collaborative process.
- The Student Representatives (SRs) and Associate Student Representatives (ASRs) produce the newsletters.
- The Student Advisors (SAs) provide guidance in the development of newsletter content and editing.
- Regents review and approve their regional newsletter before it is submitted to the Central Office for final editing and posting.
Process
1. Newsletters are created using Google Sites. The Central Office creates a Google Site for each Region.
- Contributors are sent invitations by the Administrator (Elfi Gabriel, Central Office).
- To access their site, contributors must have an account. View Sign up for Sites.
2. The SR and ASR add content to the site.
- Most newsletters will consist of four to nine web pages.
- A style sheet has been created for overall layout and basic formatting.
- Pages may be added and reorganized.
- Images, graphics, and links may be added.
4. If, at any time, the SR or ASR has a question about formatting or layout, contact Elfi Gabriel for assistance.
5. The articles are then reviewed by the SAs. SAs may make direct edits to the copy.
6. After the SAs finish their reviews, the newsletters are reviewed by the Regent. Regents may make direct edits to the copy.
7. The Central Office completes any final editing and publishes the newsletters. The newsletters will be linked to the www.english.org website.
