Field Trip Ideas
- Attend a Play
Check for performances of your local theater group or plan a trip to a larger city in your state.
- Attend a Conference
We especially encourage you to attend Sigma Tau Delta Regional and International conferences and conventions, but also check with your professors for regional MLA, NCTE, or CCCC conventions as well as conferences dealing with particular areas of interest within the discipline.
- Visit a Local Literary Site
Your local Chamber of Commerce may know of local sites of interest.
- Visit a Museum
- Attend a Festival
Renaissance, Shakespeare, Medieval, Victorian, etc.
- Attend a Concert
You may consider including readings of literary works related to the music as an after-outing event.
- Evening at the Theater Dessert and Discussion
Meet with actors from the play after the production to share ideas, ask questions, and critique the performance.
- Go on a Rafting Trip
- Attend a Reading
Suggestions for Implementation
- Make sure the itinerary is set well ahead of time and posted or handed out so everyone has all the details in advance.
- Plan for backup transportation in case someone providing transportation has to change plans.
- Be certain you have planned for all the incidental expenses such as parking and taxes.
